

The Allen family very sadly announces the unexpected passing of John (Jack) Grant Allen, born November 9th 1950, North Vancouver. Jack passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 4th, 2020 in Surrey, BC. He leaves behind his loving wife Wendy of 47 years, Mum Gwen Allen, son Tyler, daughter Leah Haring, son in law Trevor, and his two granddaughters Madelyn and Charlotte Haring, the pride and joys of Jack's life. He also leaves behind his brother Rob, and two sisters Lynn and Cindy.
Jack is predeceased by his father, John (Jack) William Allen, his mother in law Shirley, father in law Bud McDonald, and his first born son, John Ronald Allen. Jack is also reunited with his beloved newfies Panda, Haven and Kola.
Jack completed his machinist apprenticeship at Burrard Shipyard, and moved on to work at Bel-Air Shipyard. He also spent several years working at Cancar, moving on to work at Mainland, before joining his dad at Allen Machineworks. Jack then went on to join the Optimil team for over 30 years, retiring in January of 2020.
Jack was passionate about Harley Davidson motorcycles, woodworking, and ATVing. He spent years coaching his children’s soccer and baseball teams, mentoring youth players in their teamwork skills and abilities. He later went on to umpire little league baseball, and enjoyed his bowling leagues for many years. Jack enjoyed spending time with his family in the outdoors, including camping, boating and golfing.
In lieu of flowers, the family would gratefully appreciate donations to be made in Jack’s name to the Surrey SPCA.
