John Dennis Coll

With deep sadness and also gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, Baba, and uncle, John Coll, in his 92nd year. Loving and devoted husband to Myr Coll for 68 years, they were longtime residents of Panorama Ridge in Surrey where they raised their 4 children.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Myr; daughters Cindy (Carl Hildenbrandt), Sandra (Bruce Cheng), sons Ronald and Robert (Rachelle LeMaire); his grandson Curtis Hildenbrandt, and granddaughters Miranda and Genevieve Cheng; and several much-loved nieces and nephews.

A WWII Navy veteran, John enjoyed a long career with BC Electric/Hydro. In retirement, he took up woodworking, spent many happy hours puttering around home, and delighted in his new role as a grandparent.

He is remembered as a kind and loyal man, always willing to lend a helping hand. He was easy to talk to and liked visiting with others. He enjoyed his family, watching baseball, and social gatherings. He was grateful to have lived a full life and often commented, “I have been very fortunate.”

The family would like to thank the wonderful, caring staff and residents at Whitecliff who made Dad’s last 2 years very comfortable and happy there.

John lived a simple life and in accordance with his wishes there will be no service. Please remember him in your own way. In lieu of flowers donations to BC Children’s Hospital would be most appreciated. Condolences may be offered at www.victorymemorialpark.com
