Dear Marilyn, Cathy, Todd, Tracy, and families.
I was saddened to learn of Jack's passing. He was one of those guys that personified the great days in the salmon and herring industry now gone as well. We had many great times at the various golf tournaments, fisheries council functions, annual trade shows in Europe and America, and the like.
One of my fondest memories was coming home from 'West' Germany after a huge storm, and we all ended up in the same Air Canada flight from London to Vancouver. Jack actually arranged for us to sit up in the cockpit of this DC10, sipping a drink and smoking cigars with the pilot and flight crew! That sure couldn't happen today!
Jack was the consummate salesman, and probably did sell snow to the Eskimos somewhere along the way.
More than anything, it was obvious to anyone that knew Jack that his love of family was foremost in his heart. Photos all around the office and on his desk weren't enough. If you wanted to have a 30 minute conversation about seafood, you had to also talk about family for at least an equal amount of time! And usually, that was the more interesting part of the conversation.
I am sorry I couldn't attend Jack's service, as my wife was also struggling with cancer and passed away December 1st, so I contacted Todd to let him know. However, I wanted to somehow record a few words in honour of Jack.

We are sad to hear of the passing of Jack. He was a wonderful neighbor who was the first to help us when we moved to the neighborhood. He will truly be missed.

I was shocked and saddened to read of Jack's passing. I had the pleasure of dealing with jack on a business level for probably 30+ years. He was an absolute prince of a man and one could only hope to have clients as nice as him. Marilyn and your extended family my condolences go out to you at this time. Todd and Bart my thoughts are especially with you.

An inspirational individual whom I was lucky enough to call Papa. You were a good man who always had his heart in the right place. In both life and business you touched many different people and in passing I learn of more each day. I have many great memories from over the years, you were one of the few people who always motivated me to strive for my best; an unspoken mentor who inspired me more then you knew.  I am going to miss you dearly and am sorry your fight ended this way. I know you continue to watch over us all; enjoy that scotch and rest easy.

A best friend, a mentor, a true man of his word, and not only that but the best grandpa anyone could ever hope for. The memories we share I will cherish for a lifetime. You are now the shining star which watches over me and the rest of the family. An exceptional man with the heart and drive of a lion. I wish this wasn't real but you are in a much better place now you've been suffering to this horrendous disease for far to long. Thank you for everything you've done for me, everywhere I go a part of you will be right there by my side. Rest easy papa, ill see you again ❤
