She was born in Camrose, Alberta on August 3, 1941, the first of five children to Marvin and Mildred Trisko. Joyce grew up on the family farm and, upon completing her secondary schooling in Heisler, Alberta, attended the University of Alberta. As an Elementary School Teacher, she taught at schools in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario.
She met her husband, Terry, at Canadian Forces Cold Lake, Alberta in 1966, and they were married in 1967. From there they shared the military life, moving across Canada and later retiring to the Vancouver area. They also had the opportunity to do some exploring in parts of South East Asia; spending much time in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Jakarta, Indonesia.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 52+ years, and her son James, daughter Deb (Dario) and her four grandchildren Kayla, Connor, Avril and Olivia. She is also survived by sisters: Jane (Byrne), Louise, Annette (Brian) and brother Gerald and numerous extended family.
If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association at diabetes.ca in memory of Joyce.
