It's hard to even look at this as reality. Our 10 plus years together brings so many memories. You always had such love for your family and friends. I'd never forget the way you spoke of your friends and their families like they were your own. Your heart was so big for the people around you. We began our lives together; ball hockey, ice hockey, softball, snowboarding, camping, roadtrips.. .if we didnt do it together, I loved watching you! Cyclone Taylor family, Elton john, Pink Floyd concerts, Canucks games, WWF, and how many times we could watch pulp fiction! Our cats Misty and Shady. In the years weve been apart, youve never once missed sending me a birthday message. You were such a thoughtful loving person. My heart hurts so much knowing you are gone. Thank you for the memories I'll hold close forever. I'll never forget you.

Justin was One of my brothers friends, I truly got to know him working at Cyclone Taylor’s . I have many fond memories of this great man, most are too personal to share , but I tell you one thing he went out of his way to make us feel special, He always had my back regardless of hockey, or just hanging out with the guys. One concert we went to will always be on my mind
Smashing pumpkins the haunting interlude will always remind me of you.. I love you and will always miss you. Rest In Peace my friend.. till we meet again

Reunited with Justin Hjelmeland while working on set together on Wedding March 5. His encouraging presence was always greatly appreciated. We reminisced about high school ball hockey and laughed about how many bruises he left me with when as the goalie I’d dare get in the way of his slap shot. I’m glad we had that time together. Gone far too soon. Thanks for the friendship, the laughs, and your positive and supportive presence. Rest In Peace, Justin. You made a great mark on everyone who knew you. 💜

I remember Justin as a good friend to my brother throughout the many years we all grew up together. He was a great athlete, of course in hockey but I recall a time when him and I went to play racquetball together years after high school. After thoroughly kicking my butt in the game, we took the time to sit and talk about life and overcoming challenges. This talk reminded me of his internal strength, compassion, and kindness. I know throughout his life, he showed this to many others.

My condolences to all of Justin's friends and family during this time.

May you rest in peace, Justin.

I met Justin (& the rest off the Tecumseh Annex crew) in the 4th grade when they all came over to the Main school. Reconnected when he made his way to Gladstone Secondary & then again thru both our jobs. Was always the nicest guy w/ a big heart. Sadly missed.

I've known Justin since Grade 1. From the moment I met his we became instant friends. We grew up playing hockey at soccer at Kensington. Riding bikes to each others homes and yes his birrhday parties were the best! We shared memories from Tecumseh to highschool and beyond. Justin, you were upbeat, energetic and had that positive vibe to you. You will be truly missed bro!
