It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kay Britton on August 11th at Weatherby Extended Care hospital. We would like to thank the staff at Weatherby for the care and kindness that they showed Kay in the last eight years. Kay leaves to remember her, her husband Jim, her daughters Barbara Laing and Judi Minard (Dan) her grandchildren Jennifer Minard, Zara Holbrook (Chris) and long time friend, Linda Allen. Also her great grandchildren Ethan and Wyatt Holbrook and numerous nieces and nephews. During her working years, Kay was a preschool teacher and daycare co-ordinator. Children were her great love. Kay had a great influence on the development of Early Childhood Education in British Columbia and the association instituted the Kay Britton Mentor Award in her honor. Her gardens gave her many years of pleasure. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of Kay’s life will be held at a later date.
