It is with broken hearts that Kathryn, Brian and Carly Dominique announce the passing of our Beautiful Laurel Amelia Dominique on February 27th 2023.
Laurel was much loved and she had much love to give. She was a nurturer at heart and she dedicated her life to working with children. From babysitting, to coaching beginner’s hockey with her Dad and her sister, to being a summer camp leader and to eventually earning her Bachelors of Education from UBC, Laurel’s sole purpose was to teach, guide and help others, particularly young children. She had the amazing capacity to love and care for each child she worked with. Following in the footsteps of her mother Kathryn, landing as a kindergarten teacher was a natural fit for her, indeed a calling. Her students were drawn to her because they knew that no matter how busy or hectic the day was, she would always have time to make each of them feel special. Laurel thoughtfully and carefully cultivated her reading materials and lesson plans so that she could ensure she was helping create a more mindful and caring generation in the children she taught.
Her capacity for love didn’t end with her students. Her love of animals was evident to anyone who spent even the smallest amount of time around her. She loved her kitten Kimble, an unexpected gift when she just two years old, but dogs had the number one spot in her heart, including: her beloved Daika, Lily, Mia, Rupert, and Sadie. These animals brought out the best of her. Her attentiveness and tenderness was evident in the way they gravitated towards her in any room. No matter how many people were around, Laurel could always be found with a dog in her lap.
Laurel created beautiful memories with her sister Carly and partner Curtis on their trips around British Columbia. They climbed many mountains and ate a turkey sandwich at the top of each one. From the pier at White Rock to the peaks of Whistler they roamed wherever they desired. Always and forever together.
Laurel is survived by her loving grandparents; parents; sister; many aunts; uncles; cousins; Curtis and his loving family. She is in all our hearts forever.
Rest in Peace our Beautiful Laurel.

Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow, but remember me in every tomorrow. Remember the joy, the laughter, the smiles, I’ve only gone to rest a little while. Although my leaving causes pain and grief, my going has eased my hurt, and given me relief. So dry your eyes and remember me, not as I am now, but as I used to be. Because, I will remember you all, and look on with a smile. Understand in your hearts, I’ve only gone to rest a little while. As long as I have the love of each of you, I can live my life in the hearts of all of you.
