Our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Li Qiong, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, at the age of 75. Though we are heartbroken, we take comfort in knowing that her life was rich with love, laughter, and purpose.
Born on June 7, 1950, in Kaiping, China, Li Qiong grew up in a community surrounded by the rhythms of village life. She dedicated part of her career to teaching elementary school, shaping the minds and hearts of young children. In 2012, she immigrated to Canada to be closer to her family, a decision that brought great joy to her and those around her.
She had a deep love for life’s simple joys. She was most at peace in her garden, hands in the soil, tending to her vegetables. She loved to travel with friends, always up for a new adventure. But above all, she found her greatest joy in cooking. Family gatherings always centred around her kitchen, filled with the aroma of her well-loved dishes. Her cooking brought us together, and it will be deeply missed. Whether offering a comforting word, a warm meal, or simply her steady presence, she touched everyone around her in ways that words cannot fully capture.
She leaves behind two sons and six grandchildren who will carry her memory in everything they do. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave, the wisdom she shared, and the strength she modelled every day of her life. She was the heart of our family, and her absence will be felt deeply. But her love lives on in each of us, and we will carry her with us always.
