I am so sad. I only just found out. Lionel fitted me for a new set of clubs last year and I felt it was time for a tune up. He will be missed. A gentleman.

In many cases, certain people are in your life for a relatively brief period, a "chapter" so to speak.  Mr. Newton started as a Choir Teacher, and ended up as a friend of our Family of Origin.  He was very musical, had a great sense of humor, and was quite the character.  We kept in touch a little over the years, but there was about a 5 year period in the early '70s, that we interacted a lot.  I'm sad to have missed his Memorial Service.

I just learned today that Mr. Newton passed away in December.  I have many memories of him as both a choir teacher and personal friend when I was in a teenager.  He made a real impact on my life.  I last saw in 2002 and was pleased to introduce my 3 sons to him, as someone who had influenced me in my formative years.  He will be missed.

I went down to the range today for the first time since last November. I hoped to see Lionel and have our usual chat and then have  a golf swing tune up . When I looked at the bulletin board and saw Lionel's obit I felt like someone had kicked me in the stomach. I am shocked and saddened by the loss of this wonderful teacher and friend, he was an amazing man who was dearly loved by all who frequent the Peace Arch Range . I will treasure my custom made KZG golf clubs and will think of this fine gentleman every time I use them. With deepest condolences , Ian Mackenzie .

I am so sad. Uncle Newt was the greatest. Talented musician, golfer and wonderful brother to my mother. He will be missed. Tracy, Lauren and Kim my condolences go to you and your families. Losing a parent is tough anyway but such a special one makes it even harder. My thoughts are with all of you.. I have some photos I would like to get to you. Uncle newt in his little sports car etc.

Lauren, Kim, Tracy and families: just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you today. Your dad was a very charming and talented man. Although I wasn't an easy student and you might not see it, he did improve my golf game. He was a good teacher.
