Lornell was proud to say that she was born and raised in Vancouver to Nellie and Lawrie Ridley. For the next 79 years she brought joy and fun to all whose paths she crossed.
Lornell met the love of her life, John, at BCIT 44 years ago. Beginning that day they created a love story that included two amazing children, Cora and Sean, grandchildren Isaac, Alivia, Levi and Caleb, homes in North Delta, travel and many adventures on their boat.
Lornells forte was alumni relations and fundraising at UBC, KPU and VCC, where she established friendships that have endured for over 30 years. Lornell was a mentor to many in addition to being a leader and manager. She was a Rotarian for over 30 years. She loved her North Delta community and lived the Rotary Motto “service before self", every day.
You could also find her sailing, skiing and hiking. She even finished the Honolulu Marathon at 75. Most of all she loved her family. It now up to us now to live by her example to treat everyone with kindness and respect.
Our thanks to the staff at Melville Hospice in White Rock for their dedication and caring during Lornell’s last days.
A donation to the Peace Arch Hospice Society or BC Cancer Foundation would be appreciated. Please join us on Sept 18, 2024 at 11 am at Victory Memorial Park in Surrey, for a celebration of a life well lived and loved. Hawaiian Attire and Aloha.
