Lorraine passed away peacefully on June 18, 2022. Deeply loved, she will be sadly missed by her surviving family in BC, and in Sweden. Her brother, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends will forever cherish the memory of her gentle strength and warm heart.
Lorraine was born in Chase BC in 1931 to Flora (Ferguson) and Jack Scatchard. A child of the South Thompson, she and brothers Larry and Geoff explored the area as their family moved between Chase and Kamloops. Eventually relocating to Vancouver, she worked at the UBC Registrar, and then met Erik, introduced by her brother Larry. They married in March, 1957 and she soon become mother to Karin, Lorne (Tammy), Neil (Carrie), and before long grandmother to Tanner, Saje, Eric and Jake. She raised her family with Erik, while moving often in support of Erik's work throughout BC, Sweden, and back to BC, until they retired in White Rock.
Fond of the outdoors and travel, Lorraine also enjoyed her garden and walking, as well as hiking and x-country skiing with Erik. Always ready to see something new; travel by airline, cruise ship, car or RV helped her and Erik explore.
Lorraine was predeceased by Erik in 2007. She continued on as parent and grandparent to her family, did a little travel, spent time with friends, and began watercolour painting classes. She lived independently in her home of 29 years with the help of her family. Her final year was spent making new friends, as she always has, in Oceana Parc.
If you wish to honor Lorraine, take a look at the ocean or the mountains, toast her with a sip of white wine, and send her a smile, as she would for you.
