So sorry for your loss. I met Mairi over 40 years ago at CZCL HQ. in her role as executive assistant located in the upper echelons of the company. She was the epitome of her profession - a capable, knowledgeable woman with a sharp wit, steady gaze, and discreet demeanour. No private or corporate secrets passed her lips nor did anyone pass beyond her desk without approval. For a newcomer, Mairi could be intimidating until one was a recipient of her humour and willingness to share advice. Always immaculately attired, she had a hat for each outfit. I fondly remember her.

Mairi came into my life shortly after I met my wife Marjorie when we were introducing each other to our respective friends. When we married Mairi came to our wedding - one of the few who wore a festive hat. We frequently were guests in her White Rock condo and in later years visited her when she moved to The Residence at Morgan Heights. The staff at that facility made a lasting impression on me for the gentleness of their care and attention to Mairi. We used to take "The Littlies" (grandchildren) to visit Mairi and she was always interested in learning about the exciting things they were doing in their young lives. We attended the same church in White Rock where Mairi loved singing in the choir. The Sunday before she died I stayed behind and asked the organist to play a particular piece of music - "Go Now In Peace". He looked up and said to the heavens, "this is for our friend Mairi", pulled out all the stops on the organ and we recalled our fond memories of "the hat lady".

I met Mairi in 1985 when I joined Crown Forest Industries and I found a kindred spirit in her but it was not until we retired that our friendship flourished and we enjoyed many an hour together whether at the shops or savouring delicious lunches or walking the seafront of West Vancouver. Mairi moved to White Rock and some years later I too moved there renewing many a shared hour. After Mairi moved to The Residence at Morgan Heights she tholed many an issue and these last four years have not been kind to her. I shall miss her - Marjorie E Henson

Saddened at the news of Mairi's passage. 'A thoroughly able executive assistant to a number of senior officers in the forest industry of BC. Always professional, always loved a party.
