Margaret Sage, loving wife, mother, sister, and friend passed away on Friday September 27, 2019 after a courageous battle for life. Her only defense was her smile, overwhelming kindness and her ability to connect personally with anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. She was the glue that held us together. She leaves behind a family that was made great by her; loving husband Mike, Deborah (Dean), Douglas (Laura), Jennifer (Jim), Eleanor (Glen & Colin), Joan (Bob & David), and many more nieces, nephews, cousins and friends she loved. If you knew her then you would know all of us because you may have been some of the 250 plus people who received her famous Christmas letter.
Margaret was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec on December 29, 1940. “Maggie” found a career to support her amazing love for people, working as a nurse for over 40 years in Labor and Delivery at Royal Colombian Hospital. Margaret married Michael James Sage on June 14, 1969 and made a life raising their children, gardening, spending time at Gun Lake, and of course supporting her Canucks. Later in life she focused her love on her adored granddaughters - the "girlies" - Kaihlyn, Rylee and Aubree.
Margaret was our "energizer bunny", always busy with life and people. Her infectious smile was a part of everyday life and evident in every picture. She welcomed everyone into her home to share a meal or to give something made from her heart, and after you left you would most likely receive a handwritten thank you card for your time together. She was a master of the small things and could remember the most important details of each person, their names, relationships, etc.
Margaret “Maggie” Gail Sage was the kindest and most generous person you could ever meet.
