It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our mother Marilynn. Mom passed away on Dec 1, 2022, at the age of 91. Predeceased by her husband Jack, she is survived by her loving children Ken, Peter (Anna-Marie), and Catherine (Gerry), grandchildren John, David, Amelia, and Ethan and great grandson Levi.
Marilynn was born in Victoria, B.C. and spent her early childhood in Powell River before moving to Vancouver. Marilynn attended Lord Kitchener Elementary and Lord Byng High School. After one year at UBC she began teaching primary school at Lord Kitchener and then completed two summers of Normal School in Victoria to complete her teachers training. In 1954 she and two very dear friends went to Europe which remained one of the highlights of her life. In 1958 she married the love of her life John (Jack) McGregor. They moved to Surrey where Jack started his medical career and Marilynn taught a few years at Newton Elementary before starting a family.
Marilynn was a loving mother and devoted much of her life to caring for her family. Her many hobbies included knitting, sewing, genealogy, and antiquing. Marilynn had made many new friends at Crescent Gardens retirement home where she had lived for the past eight years. She enjoyed great entertainment and many activities there - especially Bingo!
There will be no service by request. In lieu of flowers the family gratefully requests donations be made in Marilynn’s memory to the Jessie Grant McGregor Memorial Bursary, UBC or the BC Family Hearing Resource Society, 15220 92nd Ave, Surrey, B.C. V3R 2T8
