I met Mary at the UBC Dept. of Medicine at Shaughnessy Hospital in 1980.  She interviewed and hired me for a position in the department. I will remember Mary for her zest for life, humor, kindness and generosity.  I moved to Ontario in 1984 but we stayed in touch.  At the end of June  of this year I travelled to White Rock and took the opportunity to drive to Mary's home.  I was deeply saddened when I learned of Mary's passing on May 1st.  She was a beautiful lady and someone that I will miss. My thoughts are with the family at this sad time.  Mary Hoag was one of a kind in my books and will always be remembered.

My Aunt Mary - I have so many fond memories.  She protected me from the dreaded food I had to eat and always gave me dessert first.  She laughed, she danced,she always gave you an honest opinion. I will truly miss her. Safe journey Aunt Mary.
