Mary Bradley Hutchison

December 30, 1937June 24, 2020

On Wednesday June 24, 2020, Mary Bradley Hutchison, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away at the age of 82. Mary was born on December 30, 1937 in Kirkcaldy, Scotland to Margaret and Alfred Gilliard. She moved to Canada at the age of 19 with her family and Matt (the love of her life). Mary and Matt were married on September 20, 1958 in Toronto and raised two daughters and were later blessed with four grandchildren. During their years in Canada they lived in Toronto, London, Oakville, and White Rock. Mary had a passion for tole painting and other crafts. She also loved to garden and bird watch. Her home featured her talents both inside with the crafts she created and outside in the beautiful garden. Mary was a dedicated volunteer with Peninsula United Church Women and shared her time and talents for baking, crafting and friendship to support the Church. Mary is survived by her husband Matt, her two children, Susan and Alison, their husbands, Dan and Bill, and her four grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, Tess and Kassiani. Mary deeply loved her family and she will be terribly missed by all of us - her husband, children, grandchildren, sisters, brother and many nieces and nephews. Given the Covid-19 pandemic, an open funeral service will not be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Parkinson Society of British Columbia.

As a young lad just arriving from Scotland and living in a small community called New Toronto we were blessed to be surrounded by family including aunts and uncles that would lend a loving hand in our upbringing.Auntie Mary was certainly a big part of that upbringing ,I think sometimes she was more of a big sister than an aunt. I know she is now walking hand-in-hand with her big sister ,our mother Nancy. Our hearts go out to Uncle Matt ,Susan,Dan ,Megan and Matthew and to Alison Bill Tess and Kassiani

Dear Uncle Matt, Susan, Alison and family
I count myself lucky to have such wonderful aunt. She was soft spoken. multitalented, kind, giving but above all loving and compassionate. My siblings and I were fortunate to spend a lot of time with Auntie Mary & Uncle Matt growing up. Mary always took an ongoing interest in all of her niece s and nephew's lives. Every time I spoke to her I would tell her "love You Auntie Mary"
My thoughts & prayers are with you Uncle Matt, Susan, Alison and family.

Uncle Mat,Susan and Alison:
I feel so blessed to have had Aunt Mary in my life. Her wisdom, advice, dignity and humour is something which is hard to find in people and these traits she had in abundance. The memories I have of all the great times our families spent together helps me cope with the sadness of her passing. I hope all of you can take some solace in how respected and loved Mary was by all who were fortunate enough to know her. We are thinking of you all.

I was very sorry to hear about Mary's passing. We were best friends growing up as we lived across the street from each other. I think I spent more time in her house than I did in my own. My love to Matt and family, also Mary's sisters and brother.
