Melchor S. Cabal, fondly called as “Mel” by his friends was a loving husband, a good father, provider and a grandfather who would not say “no” to his grandchildren. He was a good friend and was there for them when they need him.

Mel, formerly a businessman dealing with manufacturing furniture in the Philippines answered the call of God and was ordained as a pastor in 1995 in the Philippines. He pastored Jesus Christ Our Hope and Redeemer in San Mateo Rizal, Philippines, and was greatly loved by his flock. He founded several churches in Antipolo, Cainta, Philippines. One church he founded through the help of the Philippine National Police was the ministry inside the Correctional Institute for Women in Mandaluyong. In this ministry he poured his heart by providing for the essential weekly needs of the church members. He knew they had nothing and personal needs were lacking inside this prison. He tirelessly did this for several years. God greatly rewarded him when after four years, all but four of the members who were sentenced for life were miraculously released to freedom.

He saw the plight of poor and struggling pastors in the Philippines that he started a personal ministry of giving financial help and comfort to them. He realized that these pastors give of themselves completely, gets nothing back in return that they need to be ministered themselves.

There is so much more to be said about him because he helps without letting anyone know. He has touched the lives of so many without even realizing it himself. Here is an excerpt from the letter which came from Roma, a neighbor’s daughter in the Philippines which stated “I grew up seeing your family in Teremil and our family became close to yours when Tito Mel invited my dad to the bible study. Tito Mel changed the direction of our lives for the better. My dad told me this story many times. This was the beginning of many happy memories of my childhood, being surrounded with Christian friends.” Of all the things he has been known for, Mel wants to be known for one thing: A MAN AFTER GOD'S OWN HEART. Just like David in the bible, he always longed for God’s presence every minute of his life.

God the Father is his loving father, Jesus is his friend, the Holy Spirit, his companion.
