Mike Soroka, a long time resident of White Rock, B.C. passed away at the age of 95 in his home at Jackman Manor in Aldergrove, B.C. on March 16, 2021
He was born to parents Pete and Karoline Soroka on February 3, 1926 in Camrose, Alberta. Mike was the oldest brother to John and Carl Soroka. A young Mike spent many years helping his dad on the farm but went on to be a superintendent for several different construction companies where he was a carpenter building camps all throughout British Columbia. Mike was even the recipient of a “Foreman of the year” award given to him by his Union.
Mike is survived by his niece Gail (James), nephew Gary, great nephew Michael, stepdaughter Loralee and son in law Bryan and grandchildren Bailee and James.
Mike is pre-deceased by his two brothers John and Carl, his first wife Sylvia and long-time partner Maria.
Anyone who knew Mike would agree that he was kind, caring and extremely patient. Always finding the good in others and willing to help someone in need. He always had good advice and loved sharing his experiences of his own life. For Mike, family was everything. The pride that he had for his great nephew Michael and grandchildren Bailee and James was strong. He loved watching them play their sports whether it be on the baseball, football or soccer field, grandpa was always there. Mike had often expressed how his life was complete by witnessing his great nephew Michael be drafted by the Atlanta Braves Baseball Organization. In 2019 & 2020 Mike and Bryan went to watch Michael pitch against the Toronto Blue Jays. The pride Mike had was overwhelming.
Mike had many interests which included traveling the countryside with his brother John or taking a cruise with his love Maria. He could also be found in his massive garden and typically would offer his fruits of labour to neighbors and friends. Mike loved food and always enjoyed Sunday dinners with his family. It would always be a safe guess that grandpa wanted dessert and always picked ice cream. Grandpa Loved his ice cream.
Dad-Grandpa-Uncle Mike you will always be remembered with great fondness, you will be missed always and forever treasured. We love you today and every day. Hope they have all your favorite flavours up there. Rest easy Dad -Till we meet again…
Love,
Your family
