Monina Cadungog Aborido passed away on March 25, 2026 at 6:35 pm after resiliently battling cancer for 11 years. She was born in Zamboanga City, Philippines. Most knew her by her baptismal name Agnes, and to her siblings she was known as Sweetheart. She moved to British Columbia, Canada with her husband and daughter in 2010.
She is predeceased by her father Paterno F. Cadungog. She is survived by her husband Caesar A. Aborido; her daughter Abigail C. Aborido; her mother Valeria C. Cadungog, her siblings Evelyn C. Herrera, Paterno C. Cadungog Jr., Paterno C. Cadungog III, Roel C. Cadungog, Roland Cartagena; her niece Mikaella Erika S. Cadungog who she cared for and supported, and many other nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Agnes was a caring mother, devoted wife, and a meticulous worker. In the Philippines, she worked in a telecommunications company called PLDT where she met her husband and did her best to provide quality service to her customers so that she could provide for her family. In the early 2000s, she and her husband made the decision to immigrate to Canada so their daughter could have better opportunities in life. It took years of hard work, but Agnes and her family moved to Canada as Permanent Residents in 2010 and became Canadian Citizens in 2015.
In Canada, Agnes was a housewife who worked tirelessly to keep her home exceptionally clean, neat and organized. She prepared delicious home-cooked meals, and a highlight of her day was seeing her family sitting together at the dinner table. She always made sure her husband and daughter were well looked after.
Agnes was also a devout Catholic. Church was a very important part of her life and prayer was always included in her daily routine. She encouraged her family to go to mass every Sunday and always reminded them about the importance of daily prayers. Even when she was no longer physically capable of attending mass due to her condition, she still did everything she was capable of to show her Faith in God.
She loved to dance and sing, and until she became limited by her illness she sang in a church choir at the OLGC Parish. She enjoyed playing the guitar and she loved to garden. She enjoyed the company of her dear friends, and her family was everything to her.
We know that she is now at peace in the arms of the Lord, and that she is free from pain and suffering. We will remember her with love and we will miss her dearly.
