MacLennan, Patricia Ann (Patty) August 22, 1950 – February 4, 2013

Patty passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock, B.C. Her father, Ellis, predeceases her. She is lovingly survived by 2 daughters Jessica Needleman (Emile Reale) Auckland New Zealand, Melissa Needleman, White Rock, mother Audrey Rollefson, White Rock, brother Don (Theone) Diamond City, Alberta, 2 nieces Tessa (Jon) Brady, and Kailey MacLennan and great niece Ayden Brady.

Patty was born in Edmonton, completed high school and university in Regina, and then moved to the coast, settling to White Rock in 1988. While raising her daughters (her pride and joy) she was devoted to teaching at Don Christian School in Cloverdale for 26 years. Patty’s closeness to her numerous relatives, friends and students were an inspiration to us all. Special thanks to those who showed so much love and caring, especially through her brief illness.

Patty will be forever loved, remembered and missed.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, February 16, 2013, at 1 pm at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831 28th Ave. Surrey, BC. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Patty’s memory to the BC Cancer Agency.

Mrs.MacLennan was the best teacher I ever had. She was the best and I will miss her so much. I remember in grade 3 wevdid the salmon hatchery and it was so much fun. I also remember doing cross country and that was the best thing I did I got into sports because of her and I can't thank her enough for that. I will miss her terribly. You will be missed Mrs.MacLennan.

I considered working with Patti such a joy and privilege, as she made the school day full of joy. She had empathy for all students, staff, parents, no one was excluded, no matter what. She was such a beautiful person. Rest in peace Patti.

Patty was a wonderfully kind, caring and thoughtful person. She could always be counted on for a smile or a word of encouragement. Her love of her students and her family was obvious. I will miss her greatly. You were a terrific colleague Patty - you are very loved.

Patty's sense of humour and her positive out look on life will always give me the fondest memories of her and our 50 years of friendship. She brighten the lives of all of us that had a chance to know her.

I have had the good fortune of being Patty's friend for over 30 years. She was my little ray of sunshine, my Patty de fois gras (whatever that means...I just used to say it for fun), the friend I knew I could always count on....and the sweetheart I wanted to have adventures with when we retired....sadly, this will not happen. All who knew Patty( me included), were blessed. I will keep Patty forever in my heart....and I believe, we will meet again some day. Bless you Patty for your loving, caring heart. I miss you so much. I long for one more visit. Andrea xoxo

Mrs. MacLennan was a true inspiration to my son and I. She cared so much for the children at school and always greeted me like I was an old friend.
We will miss her warmth, dignity and compassion. She will always be in our hearts.

Every once in a while someone crosses your path who leaves such an indelible mark on your life that they become a part of you - and they are never truly gone. Mrs. MacLennan was one of those people. We were so very blessed to have her as a teacher and coach to both our children. They will carry through their own lives a lesson she taught them or the warmth and caring nature she had for everyone. Patricia MacLellan has never really left us - she lives in the hearts of all those who were lucky enough to have crossed her path. May her family find strength in each other and may the day soon come when the good moments and happy memories far outweigh the sorrow and sadness they now have to endure.

I will not forget the day I met Patty. She welcomed me with open arms and the words, "Well, we might as well start with a hug!" We shared many happy moments, laughing together about our fleeting youthfulness. We at Don Christian shall remember all the joy and exuberance Patty brought to our staff room and the tender loving care she demonstrated so clearly for each of her students.
