My dearest mummy,

I think of you every single day.
Today would have been your 65th birthday, and my heart feels heavier than words can explain.

For so many years, I used to look forward to this day. We always planned something together, always. You loved to travel, and we would take time off just to be together, discovering new places, laughing, and creating memories that now feel so precious. Those trips were not just journeys. They were moments where life felt full, safe, and complete because you were there.

I miss the days when you were able to travel with me. I miss the excitement in your eyes and the way you embraced life so wholeheartedly. This year, I do not feel like going anywhere at all. I have chosen not to plan anything, because celebrating without you feels empty, and leaving feels like leaving you behind, even though I know you are always with me by the mercy of Allah ﷻ.

It hurts so deeply to have lost you so fast. Life has never felt the same since you have been gone. Learning how to live without you has been one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. Some days, the absence is so loud it feels unbearable.

We hold on tightly to our memories. They are all I have now, and I cherish every single one. Yet even in those beautiful memories, there is an ache, because nothing compares to having you here.

I miss you every day, mummy. More than words can ever express.

I miss you so much. 
I wish I took more advantage of all the time I had with you. I wish I called more, messaged more, checked in more, and tried harder to visit even after my plans kept falling through.
You mean so much to me and I truly love you so much. I can't explain why or how, but you've touched me in so many ways and taught me so much. I'm so blessed to have met you, loved you, be loved by you, and to call you my phoppu. 
I will always remember you by your kind, deep, wise eyes, your bright smile that never once faltered no matter what life threw your way, and the love and generosity you showed everyone around you. You're missed everyday, but today, on your birthday, you'll also be celebrated. For the person you were, the love you shared, and all the lessons you taught us.

You were and still are my world. Taking care of you turned out to be my passion. A passion that I didn’t want to let go. Seeing you get better turned into a goal for me. Trying to get you back on track to how you used to be fit and healthy turned to be my biggest motivation. It all just crashed. We had a goal; you keeping your will power as strong as you could and I’ll try to keep you as motivated as possible  and that’s how we could fight this gruesome illness. I don’t know when the roles shifted from you being my mom to me being your mom. You were my everything. I feel like I’ve lost my only parent and my child and losing both are the hardest things in life. It’s a void that no one can fill. It’s getting harder to survive this loss as the days are passing by. You fulfilled roles of a father and a mother both. It was never easy for you to be a single parent for us but you did it so gracefully. You were the most beautiful lady that I had ever seen in my entire life, both inside and outside. I used to be so proud to call you my mother. I wish I could see you and Nani once again Mummy. Please. I don’t even know how but I wanna see you. I can keep writing about all your talents and skills and it still would be less because you really were a superwoman. My superwoman that I can proudly claim. You were mine only. My precious angel. My loving mother, whose world only revolved around us. It’s like you had a veil on your eyes which only showed us to you and nothing else because that’s how you took care of us. Never had I ever heard from you saying that you need your space or you wanted to enjoy or you wanted to be left on your own. You wanted to do everything for us and with us. Were you even a human for real? or an angel in disguise brought onto earth to protect and love us?

Tara and Inam, I’m so sorry for your loss. Tara often shared of the wonderful talents that her mother in law Rayeesa had. That she not only had a brilliant mind, but a gift for the arts as well. May her memory be a blessing, and may your family find peace and comfort during this time.

Rayeesa was a woman to reckon with.  A strong, loving, giving, kind generous, beautiful person inside out.  The short time I knew her she left a huge impact.  She taught me about faith, tolerance, acceptance, resilience and above all her optimism towards life.  She had a  very positive attitude.  After live stream viewing I learnt more about the hardship She endured and having single handedly raised her wonderful kids whom she loved beyond measure.  Meeting Sara I realise she has so much of her Mum in her.  She fought so hard for her Mum but Allah had other plans.  Rayeesa you will forever be in my heart you touched many lives one of which is mine. We pray to Allah that your soul may rest in eternal peace. 🙏 You are truly at peace now and rest assured your legacy will be carried forward by your beautiful daughter Sara❤️

I'm still in shock upon hearing the sad news of your passing due to cancer. Today, we bid farewell to a shining light in our lives. You left an indelible mark on my heart and memories. We grew up together, attended school, and studied side by side, sharing laughter and tears. Your kindness, compassion, and infectious smile brightened every day.

Though cancer took you too soon, your memory will live on in my heart. I'll treasure the moments we spent together – studying, playing, sharing secrets, and chasing dreams. It's hard to believe you won't be here to share more memories and experiences with us.

My beautiful friend  with hazel eyes, so rare in India,. We were childhood friends playing , riding our bicycles around Council Hall, and the streets of Poona. We laughed and sang our hearts out. Those were the days. I am so glad I came to Ontario and met you and your daughter Sarah . We went shopping and you cooked a wonderful meal for Chuck and me. I am so glad we connected after all those early years. I will miss our talks, keep you in my heart forever.

She was more than just a friend—we shared many wonderful moments together. We used to eat breakfast in the workplace. We laughed freely and worked side by side in the same place. Her presence was always comforting, and her smile brought joy to everyone around her. She had a naturally pleasant and positive spirit that lifted others. Working together gave us countless shared memories that I will always cherish. I feel blessed to have known her and to have been a part of her life.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. Your mother was a remarkable woman and a dedicated doctor. May Allah grant her Jannah and give you strength during this difficult time...

There comes a time when even the mightiest tree begins to wither-its branches no longer as strong, its leaves no longer as green. Birds that once nested in its shade fly away, and storms it once endured with ease now leave lasting marks.

Just like that tree, we too go through seasons.

We won't always be in our prime.

We won't always be admired or followed.

We won't always be the decision-maker, the leader, or the strongest voice in the room.

So while we still have strength, influence, and breath-let's walk in humility.
Let's treat people with kindness, not pride. Because one day, when the season changes, life will remind us that what we gave out is what returns to us.

Rayeesa was a friend of mine with heart full of love and positive attitude towards everything, even if her physical presence are no more here on earth,her sweet memories will remain with me for ever. Heartfelt condolences dear children.

You were my first home, my safe place, and my greatest teacher.
How do I begin to put into words a love so vast, so steady, so quietly powerful?

You were the kind of mother who carried the world silently — never seeking applause, only giving love. You taught me what strength looks like when spoken with kindness, what sacrifice means when no one is watching, and how faith can carry us through even the darkest storms.

Mummy, you went through so much — far more than you should have. You carried pain that was not fair. You endured trials with a quiet dignity that only Allah truly saw. And yet, even through it all, you remained gentle. Loving. Present. Steady. You deserved ease, joy, and softness — and I pray Allah gives it to you now, eternally.

I will never forget the way you smiled through your pain, the way you placed everyone’s needs before your own, and how you lived with such grace, even in your final moments.

Your departure has left a space in my soul no one else can fill — but I find comfort knowing you left in the blessed hours of Jumu’ah, in the sacred month of Muharram, surrounded by those who loved you most. Surely Allah reserved this honour for one of His most beloved souls.

I will forever cherish the last birthday gift you gave me — that card, simply signed “forever dated.” Only now do I truly understand what you meant. It was your final blessing to me, and I will hold it close for the rest of my life.

I pray that Allah ﷻ envelops you in light, forgives you completely, and grants you a home in the highest gardens of Jannat al-Firdous — where pain does not exist, and your smile shines eternally.

You were — and always will be — my hero.
