To The McLean family,   We extend our sincere condolences to you all.   Ron was much loved my many people, and touched his children, grand-children and friends in many ways. Dear Shirley and family:
We send our condolences for the passing of Ron.  That was a very sad telephone call that we received from Elizabeth.  Liz, I was successful in obtaining your Dad's obituary from the internet. It was just a short time ago that I talked by telephone with Ron and it was a good chat and I followed that up with a call to Shirley.  I will always remember our time together in Lima, Peru in the year 2000.  We lived in the same hotel and usually dined together in the evening and at the same restaurant (the one with the very old car Made somewhere in North America) on display in front of the place.  We always ordered the local Red wine in a carafe.  Our thinking was that there was no point in spending money for a label when the Red wine in the carafe suited our taste.  Among other subjects, we talk about our experience during the Korean war:  he a real warrior and I spending three years in France following a very brief time in the occupation of Germany.  I have a few photos that Ron sent to me (mining scenes) and  two of himself posing near a Fighter Aircraft.  I also have a seven page document entitled "Ron McLean Story" and I'll be reading that again during the next few days.

Ron, I'll miss our occasional chats on the telephone.  And I'm just now raising my class of RED to you.  REST IN PEACE.  Your buddy always. Dick.
