Rose passed away peacefully on August 10, 2019 with her family beside her. She was predeceased by her husband Rodney, parents and siblings; Nance, Pat, Bill, Bertie, Ben and Doreen. She is survived by her sister Gwen, and her nine children; Rodger, Margaret, Doreen, Steven, Sheila, Nigel, Christopher, David and Julie, spouses, grand-children, great grand-children and great, great grand-children.
Rose was born in Fulham, London. She loved her family and could always be relied upon for a story from her childhood. In World War II she joined the Land Army to serve her country, something she remained immensely proud of. After the war she started her own family with a clear focus on children. Rose and Ron retired to Canada in 1984 but Rose never lost the yearn of the English countryside, seaside and history. Rose was an avid knitter all her life, in later years producing and donating many exquisite baby sized toques for new borns. She enjoyed reading and spending time with friends, especially Betsy, Mona and Karen and loved receiving and replying to a constant stream of mail. She was our Rose-bud, our Duchess.
The family is grateful for the kindness, love and friendship Rose received at Maeford Place in Quesnel and all the care she received from the medical professionals at GR Baker Memorial and Weatherby 1 Pavilion at Peace Arch Hospitals. Rose is to be cremated and her ashes returned to her beloved England. A celebration of life will be held at that time. In lieu of flowers Rose requested donations be made to BC Children's Hospital.
