Griffith, Susan (nee Cull) January 21st, 1921-July 27th 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Griffith, beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Susan passed away peacefully on July 27, 2011. Pre-deceased by her husband Joe, she is survived by her daughter Anna, son-in-law Mel and grand children Kiana and Jared and many other family and friends. Born in London England, Susan was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force and spent 2 years in British Intelligence during WWII among other postings. Following the war, Susan married Canadian RCAF officer Joe Griffith and moved to Canada, settling first in Montreal then moving to White Rock in 1967. Susan was an active volunteer. She worked with Girl Guides of Canada in both Quebec and BC. She was an active community member on the Parks and Recreation Commission and with both the White Rock Amateur Swimming Association and the White Rock Figure Skating Club. Susan touched the lives of many during her 90+ years. She will be missed but not forgotten and will remain in our hearts always. A celebration of her life will be held at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831- 28th Ave Surrey, BC on Friday, August 12th at 11:00am. We are very thankful for the love and support provided throughout the years by the Leonard and Purvis families and Susan’s many friends and relatives. Our gratitude goes out as well to the staff at the Waterford in Tsawwassen and to the ICU staff at Surrey Memorial Hospital for their kind and professional care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Dear Anna,
My thoughts are with you, Mel and the kids now. I wish we could have been there with you for Auntie Susan's memorial service. She was such a remarkable lady. I always loved talking with her and hearing any one of her many wonderful stories. We will miss her and keep her memory dearly.
Love to you all.

Dear Anna,
I was saddened to hear of your Mother's passing. She was the back bone of the W.R. Figure Skating Club for many years of which she wore many 'hats'....every skater mattered to her. You and your family will have many wonderful memories of her.
regards,
C. Hendricks

Dear Anna,

I am sorry to learn of the loss of your Mother. Your Mother was one of the first figure skating volunteers I had the pleasure of working with when I worked for the BC Section. I had the deepest respect for her dedication to whatever responsibility she undertook and she took on many. I also enjoyed listening to some of her life stories, particularly those of her wartime experience. I will always remember her fondly.

My deepest regrets as I cannot make the service.

Dear Anna,

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. Although I don't see you often, just in passing on the dyke with Bella and Grace, I do remember you talking about your mother on those many occasions when we would sit together at the studio. Much like yourself, she sounded like such a wonderful, dedicated parent and really competent and admirable individual. Deepest sympathies to you, Mel, the beautiful Kiana and Jared.

Warmest Regards,

Anna: Please accept my condolences for the passing of your Mother. She was a remarkable woman. As Parks and Rec Director for White Rock Susan was an incredible resource and friend to me when I first started in White Rock. Every boy and girl who has ever participated in the annual figure skating carnival should be sent a note acknowleding her contributions to this annual community event. She made our community a better place in which to live.
