Tammy Ruth Mazzarolo, aged 58, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, in the loving embrace of her family at her home. Tammy had a valiant fight with Pancreatic Cancer but never lost her determination throughout. Her strong will to live, faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through the months of grueling Chemotherapy. Remarkably, even amidst her own battle, Tammy extended her hand to support others grappling with the same cruel disease, embodying compassion and resilience.
Tammy entered the world on June 17, 1965, in Surrey, BC, and was lovingly welcomed into the family of John Donald and Violet Brucker through adoption. Growing up alongside her siblings - Andrew, Crystal, Brian, and numerous foster children welcomed into their home by Donald and Violet - Tammy's childhood was rich with adventures in swimming, camping, and sports. In her youth, she found joy and camaraderie through hockey and baseball, displaying her passion for athletics. Throughout her life, Tammy cherished the enduring friendship she shared with Alanna Stel, a bond that remained steadfast until her final days.
Known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers, some may be surprised to learn of the extreme shyness of her youth. Yet even as a child, she possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten.
After graduating from Queen Elizabeth Secondary School and working as a Hairdresser, she met her Sweetheart, Renato Mazzarolo, during a soccer match at Empire Stadiun where Renato served as an usher. Renato’s nickname for Tammy “FACE” which stuck with her until her passing, is an homage to her beauty both inside and out. The couple was married May 11, 1985 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Surrey, BC.
In their 39 years of marriage, Tammy and Renato lovingly raised their three cherished children, Anthony, Nicholas, and Matthew. Possessing a generous and nurturing spirit, Tammy devoted herself to caring for her family and friends, showcasing her culinary talents through homemade cooking, baking, intricate cake decorating, and crafting Christmas gingerbread houses. For a significant portion of her adult life, she found fulfillment working at Safeway, where she formed lasting friendships and made a positive impact on her community, serving in both the Bakery and Customer Service departments.
At the core of the Mazzarolo family, Tammy exemplified unwavering faith and selflessness, prioritizing her family above all else. Known for her inclusive nature, she welcomed everyone into her home as if they were family, ensuring no one left with an empty stomach and always sending them off with a plate to go. With an infectious zest for life, Tammy found joy in dancing, tending to her garden, reading, traveling, playing games, watching her sons compete in sports, and baking. These activities became even more meaningful when shared with her granddaughters, enriching her life with love and laughter.
