Tena Gabor

Born January 1, 1925 in Rosenfeld, Manitoba, our dear mother passed away at home, December 13 in Oliver, B.C. at the age of 90 years. Living most of her married life in Surrey, B.C. where her 6 children grew up, when independence became a physical challenge, Tena moved to Oliver in 2011 to live with and be cared for by two of her daughters. Predeceased by her husband, Steve in 1989, and by her youngest son, Randy in 2008, Tena is survived by her children Bill, Betty, Dorothy, Ruby (Bill), Jim, and daughter-in-law Aliza (Randy’s wife) – 16 grandchildren and 4.5 great-grandchildren. Tena professed and lived a steadfast love for her Lord and her family. This love she liberally shared with many, including extended family and friends in her church and community – she had a heart of hospitality and service for people in need of help or a hug. Her faith in Jesus Christ and her walk in this world – even in later years when her ‘walk’ required the assistance of a walker --- remain a living testament to her trust and assurance in God as she leaned on Him. Always thankful, regardless of the circumstances – and times were often very tough – our mother truly lived the scripture of letting her hope keep her joyful…being patient in her troubles and praying at all times, because, as she often stated, “Heaven’s delights will far outweigh Earth’s difficulties.” Although we grieve, we celebrate, knowing our mother is now experiencing these ‘heavenly delights’. Mom was a gift – we miss her so much already.

Viewing at Fraser Heights Funeral Home, 14835 Fraser Hwy, Surrey from 10:00 to 12:00

Internment at Valley View Memorial Cemetery at 12:30

Memorial service at Berea Baptist Church, 6062, 132nd Street, Surrey at 2:30.

In lieu of flowers, it was our mother’s wish to consider a donation to Berea Baptist Church.
