Tommy was born to Thomas and Florence (Ryan) Tyndall and is survived by his sister Sheila and half-sister Carol, sons Patrick (Margy) and Tracy (Diane), grandsons Jason (Sydney), Shane (Tahnee), Kevin (Claire), Cory, Ryan (Meagan) and Kyle (Sarah), and great grandchildren August, Joy, Dorothy, Beau, Atlas, Rowan, Tommy Jr., and Harper. He is predeceased by his loving wife Dorothy.
Tommy lost his mother at an early age and was raised by his aunt Amelia “Granny” with support from his father and uncles. Tommy grew up with the freedom one can only dream about today. Only the love of his life could tame his wandering ways; he met a Saskatchewan girl of Irish decent living in New Westminster, last name of McIlroy, whom he married in 1957. Together they had a passionate life, held close together by strong family bonds.
Heat and Frost Local Union 118 is where Tommy toiled to provide for his family. Union members say Tommy was a legend in the industry, and some of his achievements still stand today, like the metal clad insulated chimney stack above the horizon at Lafarge Canada plant, no. 9 Road in Richmond. Tommy loved his dog Abby, loved playing golf, joke and would share his countless memories with the clarity and the accuracy of a scholarly historian.
Per Tommy’s wishes, no memorial service will be held nor fuss given. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated and condolences may be offered to Tracy Tyndall ([email protected])
