To Les, Chris, Jaclyn, Kirstie and Ashley,                                    Not a day goes by that we don't think of Todd with his GENUINELY, honest, caring, trustworthy, humorous, courageous, brave and strong nature... with which he embraced and fought so fiercely head on with .... and all while selflessly giving his ALL to everyone... and especially to us. You were such a character. The life of the "kids table" at family events- whether it was pushing Trev's face in mashed potatoes or getting a troll in your Christmas cracker and making it the life of the party and making everyone laugh, you were good at that. I remember my first day of high school you came and found me, told me that if anyone ever game me a hard time, you would be there for me, and just the comfort that you were there, meant everything. You always took little moments when you knew I was upset with something and made me feel special. There are so many memories growing up with you Kirstie and Jaclyn, I am so thankful I was able to grow up with someone like you as a part of the family. Watching you get married to Ashley had to have been one of the most beautiful moments of my life. Seeing the love that you two had for one another was magical.. your physical presence at family gatherings is ever missing although you are not there in body- I can feel you there in spirit. There is this one song, I remember you always used to play by DMX- "up in here" it always made me think of you when we were younger, then years later at a family the song began to play as your right tone- to this day when ever this song comes on whether in my car, on the radio, at some bar, I dance and sing and remember you.

Dear Todd, Just spoke with your dad Les and he could not stop talking about his dear son and how proud he is of you and how you are his hero.  Just hearing what I heard from him, I totally understand how you were by loved by so many.  We have one hope that someday all of us who have lost a loved one, will someday reunite in a better place. Todd...it's been a year and doesn't seem to be getting any easier for anyone. Everyday I see your picture and try to live as if you're always watching. I miss lunches n catch up coffees, I miss your jokes and your hugs and your bellybutton lol I wish more than anything you could have stuck around at least long enough to meet Aubrey in person and I wish she would have known you as Chris did. So many times this year I have prayed and asked for your advice, hoping one of your little signs will help guide me, everthing would be so much better on so many levels and in so many peoples' lives if you were around, its so hard to accept your absence. All we can do is what we know you would be proud of to see. Love you dearly and miss you everday, always remembering.

Wow, its hard to believe over a year has gone by. Time flies by too fast and because of this I am taking some time to "stop and smell the roses". The love you shared with your wife is something I take and think about as I take my time to explore the life we are given only briefly with my partner.   Your spirit is carried by everyone you touched and will push me to only better myself as a human being.  Through the ebbs and flows I can always go back to the memories I shared with you and I know I will get through anything.

To my first love Toddy.. today is a hard day.. you were taken from us to early and it hasn't really set in.
I try and fight the thought of you being physically gone; I know you visit me in my dreams, comforting me and telling me that you're here. Today is a hard day… bringing the realization that it has been a year.. A whole year since I saw you breath this air, lend out your touch, look at me with those loyal puppy eyes; those completely supportive, caring eyes that showed this world how powerful your heart was.
I think of you every day and fight back the sting in my heart and when I feel alone, stressed or scared I just feel something brushed upon my cheek, arms wrapped around me, looking out for me and comforting me and then I know you're there.. as you always were.
You were and always will be a huge inspiration in my life…it pains me to think that my children won't get to meet their Uncle Toddy but I will always speak about the man that brought so much joy to this world – the man who left his mark on a whole community, someone so powerful he affected so many lives and will continue to inspire.

I remember Todd back when he would come down the street to help me with my yard, He must of been all of 15. He was tall for his age confident  honest and hard working. Qualities that are hard to find in today's youth. A reflection of a good upbringing with strong family values.  I worked with his Father "Big Les" for over 20 years and he was really the apple of his Dads eye. And after years of hearing Les gushing with pride as he talked of Todd's days of playing Hockey and Baseball  I feel almost like Todd was a Nephew of Mine. And then I remember how the news saddened when Todd became sick
We were all in disbelief !  " How could this be happening to such a good young Man "!  And then I remember the Battle, Todd with the heart of a Lion fighting to the very end.! He stood like pillar of strength to his  Family and friends! His courage should be a lesson to all of us 
And I remember his Celebration of life and how such a young Man had impacted so many in such a short time , very sad but inspiring to live each day to the fullest! And Lastly I remember running into Big Les 6 months Later at a retirement function and how nothing had changed. He was still gushing with pride as he talked about his Son Todd.  And I am sure that this will never change . That after being impacted so profoundly by such a special Person,  that he will live in all of our Hearts  and memories Forever !

Todd, not a day goes by without spending a few moments thinking of you and your incredible journey in this life. I never had the opportunity to know Todd on a personal level, but I cant say enough about the Strange family. They are an amazing group of people with incredible strength! Les recently payed it forward in memorial to Todd by building a absolutely stunning wall and gate system for my new grooming salon, helping me keep the doggies safe when visiting. I am so grateful for the generosity, and plan to pay it forward for Les, Todd, and the whole Strange family.

I truly feel honored to have been apart of Todd's life. He introduced me to such an amazing family, brought me into your home, really treated me like a brother, pushed me in studies almost to the point of teaching me gas B as I was fed up trying to learn it "my way", and so much more.

This has taken me quite abit to finally sit down and write......part just maybe that, in all honesty, I didn't want to, I didn't want to watch his celebration of life dvd, and didn't want to put down in words some type of goodbye. I guess I was just avoiding the inevitable. I had kept telling you Les that I'd get to this but to me, it was down the road at some point.....and that time had come. Todd has been on my mind more and more, writing whatever comes out of me has been pulling at me more and more, and it's not sitting well.

When I was asked to say something at Todd's celebration I was beside myself so I reached out to a couple people for guidance, my Pastor Wes and a dear friend Straker. They had basically said the same thing, "Vic, what do you think the purpose is for doing this?" after some discussion they had suggested that speaking of my experiences with Todd will help others know him in possibly a different light. My purpose was to let others in to more of Todd....whew, that made things simpler for me, I had a purpose. This has been sooooo very much harder, it's personal and feel's like a last goodbye. I never did have that. I want 2 minutes SO bad near his end, and yes this might sound selfish, but I didn't get to hug him one last time, press the side of my cheek to his one last time, or perhaps have a last word.

Todd, you made laugh, and I mean really laugh, like very few could. You had this amazing way of picking up times I was stressing about school, or an exam, or some personal issue and you would give me this look... that I could feel inside, a wink, and smile and instantly I felt better! You just knew me bro, how that well...I'll never know. From that first day of school, I truly believe, and we spoke in length on it, that we were simply meant to be something more. More than study friends or work talk friends. We both seemed to just love to be there for eachother and never needed much, just a true, honest, trusting friend and those don't seem to come around that often. Thank you for that, it meant the world to me!

I guess this what saying goodbye really is and man it hurts. I will always keep the pictures I have of us, speak of the memories we shared, and will continue to value the friendship I still hold in my heart.

I just watched the fabulous cd commemorating Todd's life. Thank you Les for sharing it with me. You're absolutely correct. Your daughters did a fabulous creation and a wonderful memory of Todd. Les and Chris, I know that the loss of your son is overwhelming. Remember that it is clear that Todd lived every day to the fullest; and both of you had everything to do with that. His life was short, but it was complete. He was blessed to have the love and strength of his family and Ashley. You should both be proud of him and your daughters.

Todd will absolutely continue to live on and be a mentor in many lives. He will live in the hearts of all of us.

I will think of all of you and Todd often.

It was my luck to have known Todd and I enjoyed every time he was sitting in my barber's chair. He was always talking and laughing and telling me about the things he did with his family. He was living his life to the fullest and was so thankful to have a family who supported him. My deepest sympathy to you all. It truly does seem like yesterday that we were on the ice together. To say you were an enforcement out there is an understatement. You were a kind hearted warrior who carried nothing but a team first attitude. 

Over the years I have been fortunate to have played the game of hockey on numerous teams right across the globe. Encountered all sorts of teammates and cherished friendships. You my friend were one of a kind. If the rest of us had half the heart, half the determination you had,the world would be a much better place. 

You have taught me so much about the thing we call life Todd, and for that I am forever grateful. I know you are up there looking down on us, protecting us. See you in the next life brother.

A wonderful Celebration of Todd's Life.  For those who couldn't attend here was my speech.  
Good afternoon, (I'm Frank Roberto).  I'm honoured to have been asked to speak to you about Todd.  As a minor hockey coach for many years, I've worked with a lot of young players and I had the pleasure of coaching Todd in Cloverdale for several years.  Todd was best described as an ultimate team player, and it's no surprise that I drafted him on my teams.
Todd was a tough, courageous and determined hockey player – on and off the ice.  He was a stickler for playing fair, and if the opposition were not playing up to what Todd considered an acceptable level of fairness and respect, well, they would hear about it!  Todd was what we liked to refer to “as a policeman” on the ice – you didn't need the ref to step in, Todd would get right in there and explain – in a ‘nice physical” way, just exactly what was wrong with their behavior.  Believe me, they got the message!  On the occasion that a player wasn't quite getting the message… well, let's just say, Todd had the muscle to reinforce his point.
Yes, there were times that Todd's determination to make his point got a little out of hand, and he'd be asked to step off the ice and spend a few minutes “reflecting” on his behavior – but overall, his teammates always appreciated him having their backs and there's no question that Todd's presence on the ice made for a more engaging hockey game.
Todd was also a take charge guy off the ice.  After the post game comments from the coach, the players were left to shower and change, but it always seemed that they were taking an awfully long time in the change room.  Eventually Les and I realized that instead of showering and changing, the players were engaging in a little post-game recreation of their own…. otherwise known as “helmets and gloves boxing matches”.  No surprise to us, that Todd was our very own Cloverdale version of boxing promoter, Don King.  
I'm sure that many of you guys here today have your own great hockey stories about Todd, but for me, I'll never forget just how tough and courageous he was… like the time he reached up to try and catch a slapshot with his glove, or the time he took a puck in the face during a men's game.  His dad, Les and I tried to persuade him that he needed to go to the hospital to get some stitches, but oh no, Todd didn't want to leave the game… he would only allow us to stick a band-aid on his face, so he can get back on the ice. 
Then there were the road trips we took to many hockey tournaments during those years. My son Mathew and I would share a room with Les and Todd.  This worked out great for Les and myself but the boys were not as happy, and constantly complained about their lack of sleep due to the old guys loudly snoring. 
I also have fond memories of seeing a different side of Todd.  He met the lovely Ashley who was a former student of mine. Ashley and Todd attended some of our high school musicals at Stafford Secondary.  One particular performance makes me smile… there was Todd and Ashley in the audience, watching Ashley's sisters Jenna and Desiree perform in Beauty and the Beast.

Todd. We all miss you so much, words can not explain. Not a day has gone bye where I don't think about you and your families. You were a hero. And have made many of us stronger people just knowing what all you have gone through and still had that sense of humor. I charish so many memory's of the times we had together at school, party's, working at the olive garden, fires at your house and hockey. am proud to say the pirates hockey team that we started up 9 years ago just won the regional championship and is still going strong. I will always miss that big #8 protecting the blue line. Though you haven't been able to play for a few years it hasn't been the same without you. 
To the Strange family and the Wallace family. I cannot even imagine what you are all going through. My heart goes out to you.

To the Strange family.  Todd was idolized by so many people, that was clear at his memorial.  I hope you all find comfort in knowing you helped shape him, and he is no longer in pain. Todd was much too young to leave this earth. He was a remarkable young man who touched countless lives. Todd was a strong, positive influence and an inspiration for many people. I am proud to say that I knew him. My condolences to all of you.

We had so many things we were supposed to do and it's so unfair that we three siblings were robbed of our futures together; a future that was supposed to be filled with our kids, camping trips, Disneyland, and endless weekends at Kawkawa.

As for me I always so looked forward to seeing both Todd and Kev's faces light up when they saw each other was truly a great friendship.  We all feel so honored to have had him in our lives and will be forever in our hearts.  Ashley our hearts go out to you but always know you did everything you could and more to make Todd happy bless you.  Heaven is now a much better place with the angel they received..... My deepest sympathy to the Strange and Wallace families, Todd will be very missed. He was one of my dearest friends for years and I have never witnessed a bigger heart or such a determination to enjoy life. He deserved so much to find the kind of amazing love as he found in Ashley among other things and I'm so glad he got to marry the girl he'd said for YEARS he was going to marry. He will always be in our hearts and we are often consumed with the happy memories of him. Best wishes.

Les, Chris, Jaclyn, Kirstie and Ashley,  I am so very sorry to hear of Todd's passing.  I will always remember that wonderful little boy with the great smile and mischievous twinkle in his eyes.  I know that this amazing little boy grew up to be an amazing man.  My thoughts are with you during this incredibly difficult time.

No words can express the loss of Todd. A day after he passed, we heard a song on the radio called beautiful boy By John Lennon. Todd was just that. A cute rosy cheeked boy. I remember calling him Toddly, but he quickly corrected me that his name was Todd. So many memories in our Cloverdale neighbourhood, with all the families.
