In Memory of Virinder Singh Sidhu

It is with great sadness we inform you of the peaceful passing of Virinder (Vic) Sidhu at Peace Arch Hospital on December 22, 2020.

Vic was born on September 5, 1937 in Nabha, India. At age 17 he went to England and worked as a bus conductor. He also received his training as a bus driver at that time. He immigrated to Canada in 1961 and subsequently married in August of that year.

Transit Operations of BC Hydro at the Oakridge Depot employed him. This was an accomplishment given that there was only one other driver of South Asian decent. Prior to his career as a Transit Operator, he served in the Canadian Military Reserve Forces as a Lance Corporal in New Westminster.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Daljit Kaur Sidhu (nee Mehat), two daughters Ravjit and Mindy and three grandchildren, Hunter, Hanna and Gabriella.

The family sincerely thanks the nurses, doctors and ambulance personnel associated with Peace Arch Hospital who provided for his care. We are grateful for the long term care provided by Fraser Health. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Peace Arch Hospital Foundation.

He had an art of telling buzzer jokes - when you read the buzzer the jokes didn’t sound funny but somehow when he told them they magically sounded very funny. He was a very jolly person full of life we will miss him dearly
