

Walter was born in Vancouver, BC and lived in Vancouver for most of his life. Surrey, BC became his home following retirement and for the remainder of his life.
Walter was born the youngest son of four children to parents Charles William Walter Cresswell and Edith Annie Cresswell (nee Cross).
Walter attended Kitsilano high school in Vancouver and went on to apprentice and become a Journeyman Baker. While apprenticing at the Window Bakery in Vancouver, he met and fell in love with Della Edith Gauchi, who later became his wife.
Walter and Della were married in Vancouver on November 26, 1949, and were happily married for nearly 76 years.
Walter and Della were very active in their younger years with gymnastics, badminton, and other physical sports. In their later years they enjoyed golf, bocce, and horseshoes. They led active social lives, entertaining, travelling and spending time at the beach. They enjoyed countless summer picnics over the years with family and friends. Cultus Lake was a favourite spot for summer holidays. They also enjoyed going to the casino, and would plan get aways to Reno, Laughlin and Wendover. Generous by nature, Walter (and Della) would be the first ones to lend a hand to family, friends and neighbours whenever there was a need.
Walter loved music and he loved to sing. He played the accordion. Walter was well known for his playful demeanour and classic humour. He loved to joke and had a razor sharp wit. Walter was kind to all and was extremely well liked.
Preceding Walter in death are his siblings: Lilian (Lil) Dileth (husband Frank); Charles (Charlie) Cresswell (wife Audrey); Robert (Bob) Cresswell (wife Cherry).
Remaining to cherish Walter’s memory are: his wife Della Edith Cresswell; his daughter Karen Edith Cresswell; his grandson Christopher Andrew Arther Cope. Also, a loving family of nieces and nephews, their children, and caring friends and neighbours.
Rest in Peace Walter, you lived an amazing life.
