Stan Dart

Walter Stanley Dart “Stan”, born on May 15, 1942 in Montreal, Quebec, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025 in South Surrey, BC, surrounded by loved ones.

He was 83 years old. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Stan lived a life marked by positivity, humour, and unwavering love.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sally, with whom he shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised three daughters: Kristin (Franz), Linda (Andrew), and Shari (Chris), each of whom carry forward his life outlook of “attitude, attitude, attitude”. Stan was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Sarah, Petra, Tyson, Ryder, Penny, and Calli, who will always remember his fierce waffle making, competitive chess playing, fast paced double solitaire, and loving hugs.

Stan also leaves behind his sister Debbi and was predeceased by his parents Freda and Stan, and siblings Penny, Bill, and Bob.

Throughout his life, Stan worked hard and played even harder. As a Chartered Accountant, he began his career with McDonald, Currie & Co., a move that brought him and Sally westward to Vancouver, trading snowbanks for mountain views and discovering that the West Coast suited his love for the outdoors just fine.

Stan later joined David L. Jones Wholesale Florist, where he may not have known the Latin names of every bloom, but he certainly knew how to brighten a room. He wrapped up his rewarding career with Trail Appliances.

From childhood through adulthood, Stan was always in motion; whether skating as #4 on the hockey rink, carving down ski slopes, or chasing golf balls with more enthusiasm than accuracy. He passed on his love of the mountains to his family, along with a deep appreciation for fresh air, good company, and the occasional après-ski beverage.

To celebrate Stan and the legacy he has left, a celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 3pm-5pm, at Victory Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
