Dear Betty;  Norma and I were sorry to read the sad news in the Victoria Times-Colonist.  We remember the good outings with the two of you after completing Walt's tax return each April. I particularly remember his penchant for penny mining stocks but did not know about his Jitterbug activities!

As a kid I remember watching smooth skating Walt with the Dawson Canucks. As a teen and friend of Pauls I will always remember the warm hospitality when visiting your house. Walt had charming way of connecting with young people and making us feel special.

Dear Betty and Family
I am so sorry to hear of Walt's passing. I have such wonderful memories of our Dawson Creek days together and our family functions with the Hansons, Beckers, Pattersons, and Thompsons. It was every girl's wish (no matter the age) to dance with Walt. He made you feel like a princess (in fact, he called me Queenie). Doug, Paul and I agreed that our parents threw the best parties. We were all fortunate indeed to have made such wonderful friendships.
My deepest sympathy to all of you. Walt was a special guy and he will be missed.

Ken and I have very fond memories of the two of you. Great bridge games and happy hours down South in Yuma and at home in Victoria.

I have many fond memories (going back many many years) of Hanson family gatherings in Olds at Grandma H's, Aunt Laura's or wherever the Hanson crew happened to be. I remember lots of laughing (Uncle Walter and Uncle Bruce always seemed to be in the thick of it and probably caused most of it), story telling and just having a good time. Aunt Betty, deepest sympathy to you and the rest of the family.

In pop-culture there are two main stereotypes for old men, there's the grumpy old man and then there's the goofy old man. My Grandpa fell under the goofy old man category! He was always telling jokes, being sarcastically funny or teasing you lovingly.

I have so many fond memories that I will carry with me for the rest of my life and I feel so lucky that I got to be one of his grandchildren.

I can clearly hear his giggle and picture him as if he were here with me now, I love him to pieces and can't wait to see him again someday...

Thank you Grandpa for being the best Grandpa anyone could ever ask for, I miss you so much already. Love you Always, Kelly Belly. xox.
