Time has passed like the wind. In the busyness of life, we have slowly learned to live with the pain of missing you, moving toward a quieter and more peaceful future. Amid the crowded currents of the world, what was once so deeply engraved in our hearts—the promise to follow one another through lifetimes—has gradually softened. The longing for reunion has turned into a quiet monologue, one that accepts we may not meet again in another life.

Yet you remain different. You are still there, at the far end of the years ahead, watching over us, offering your blessings, and gently waiting, holding onto the hope that one day, we will meet again.

Dear Grace,

It’s absolutely saddening to hear about your passing away. I was very much looking forward to catching up with you on my visit to Vancouver in March this year. You have always shown support and grace towards me. 

You will be remembered.

Dear Grace, it is still hard to accept you are gone. Over the past 5 years, we had a lot of calls to each other for both business and catch-up. You didn’t pick up my phone when I called you on Feb 8. I thought you would get back to me very shortly as always but it never happened. I cannot accept that I will never have a chance to hear your voice again. You are such a person: kind,  humble, dedicated, trustworthy,  supportive…… Rest in peace! You will be missed forever!

Grace, my beloved. The grief prevents me from writing something to condole. It was merely over 2 years since we came to know each other, but the achievements we made together were amazing. There were so many common memories during the time when we both worked for ICBC in China.   I cannot accept the fact that you are no longer with me. Recent days, when I have time to stay alone, I frequently talked to you just like you were still with us. When I repeat the voice message in WeChat, every time you started with, “yangling ah”, I cannot hold my tears. The sorrow is so painful when thinking about you.  How regret that we keep postpone our date for dinner again and again since Christmas.  No matter where you are, we are always together and never apart!

Shocked and sad to hear Grace passed away. Hard to believe until today. I can still remember her soft but firm voices vividly just like moment ago. Such a warm hearted, dedicated, trustworthy, and professional person. Cannot appreciate more of her support and help.

In memory of Grace:

Upon hearing the news that Grace left us forever, all I could feel was shock and unbelievable. She impressed me as a gentle, beautiful, and competent young professional woman. She was always sincere and supportive. She’s a mother of two outstanding college students…Then I broke down in tears realizing that I will never see her again. Now she’s forever gone and rest in peace.

I cannot help to recall the first time we met. It’s a small conference room at the ICBC Richmond Branch, where my colleagues and I seek to secure a strategic investment plan in Canadian minerals through ICBC's international business operation. Grace welcomed us with her bright and warm smile. She was at her 37’s, and she spoke confidently and had much enthusiasm. That’s the beginning of a happy and long-term business relationship, which gradually developed into a solid personal friendship. From then on, we could often see each other and have a cup of tea, while we chatted about personal lives, and shared happiness and sorrow.

The last time I saw her was in the winter of 2022. She, Sunny, and the CFO of ICBC went to Regina to inspect our potash project. They arrived in a late afternoon, and that evening, we had a dinner at the Willow restaurant by the shore of Wascana Lake. The next day, after inspecting the factory, they hurried back to the airport. I do understand that bank staffs are highly efficient, and under a lot of pressure. But I feel regret not to hold them for longer, so that I can talk with Grace for a bit longer. The Willow restaurant on the shore of Wascana Lake has become the place where we bid farewell forever.
Rest in peace, my friend. The laughs and cries we shared will always be in my mind.

It’s so hard to write down sth about you here. I still remember the scene when we said “see u” few minutes before you passed out. I like your smile, your passion, your caring and everything you did to keep the team united and strong. You are a lovely woman and I know I will always miss you.

I can’t believe you are gone. You were both a fighter in the work and enjoyer in life. I thought you are surrounded by much love in heaven now.  May you rest in peace.

I am deeply sorry to hear about Grace's passing. She left me with many beautiful memories. Despite being in different locations, we had a lot of interactions during my seven years at the Bank. Especially during my time in the HR department, we interviewed many candidates together through video conference and discussed many matters such as performance evaluations and personnel arrangements. Grace gave me the impression of being a warm-hearted, rigorous, professional, and dedicated person, and she was also a good mentor. A few weeks ago, I had a video call with her and asked for her help finding some PIN envelopes in our Vancouver branch. Although it was not her direct responsibility, she kindly consulted her colleagues at the branch. I have always been grateful to her.

Life is fragile, and life is uncertain. I hope her family can get through this difficult time. I will pray with them and cherish the beautiful memories of Grace during her lifetime.

The candle may go out, but the memory of its light remains. You will be missed, R.I.P.

It is imprinted in my memory that we talked about kids growing up so fast during a corporate meeting last summer in Toronto. Your twin boy and girl are adorable . Even I never met them, I could easily imagined from your telling about their stories with ear to ear smiles.  I hope you are happy up there and always look down to bless your family and people you loved and cared. Guo Wei,  we will see you again. 

So saddened to hear that Grace passed away. Grace will be deeply missed.

I cannot bear the thought of losing someone who  went through good and bad times with me in the past ten or more years of my career. Grace was very dedicated to work, family and friends. She never avoided taking on responsibilities and was never shy of showing her determination  to succeed. Her thoughtfulness for family and friends will always be remembered.  It was a shock to learn that she has left us. But God has his own will and he determined to call upon her at a time she was at work to mark her devotion. So Grace, you are now in a better place with God. Rest in peace. We miss you.

I’m going to miss you, though I don’t know you for a long time, I really respect you, your hard work and your good character.
