Adeline (Medeiros) Furtado, “Bunny,” age 97, of Swansea, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Clifton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Somerset. She was the wife of the late Manuel “Mal” Furtado.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late John and Aldina (Medeiros) Santos, she was a longtime resident of Swansea.
She worked as a secretary at Thurston-Quantum Sails & Canvas in Bristol, RI for many years prior to her retirement in 1990. An avid reader, she found great enjoyment in playing golf, walking, traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff of Clifton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, especially the dedicated caregivers on 2 East, as well as the staff of Hanover Hospice, for the exceptional and compassionate care they provided to Bunny and her family throughout the past year and a half.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lorraine “Lori” Furtado of Crofton, MD and Lori’s sister who was a dear friend and caregiver, Pamela St. John of Lincoln, RI; two grandsons, Andrew S. Furtado and his wife Jamie of Crofton, MD, and Eric G. Furtado and his wife Carey of Lexington, KY; three great-grandchildren, Cayley, Christopher and Addison Furtado and numerous nieces and nephews. Bunny was the mother of the late Glenn A. Furtado.
Her Visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026 from 8:30 to 9:30 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited. Contributions in her honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Entombment in Notre Dame Mausoleum, Fall River.
