Al and I shared many moments ( good, bad, and ugly) in his old office at Somerset High School; we always bounced back the next day. He was a man of integrity; he passionately loved his family; I have missed him since he retired and I realize now that he was a true friend.

     Al was a truly humble, caring person. He always was ready to help everyone. As  an AD , coach and teacher he was an inspiration to all. RIP, Al.

My condolences to the Estes family, Coach Al Estes was a positive influence for me and my fellow classmates during the formative years of 7, 8, and 9th grades, I was fortunate to play Freshmen Football for Coach, He was a true motivator, Always a gentleman and his positive attitude shape the lives of so many of us, pray he is an angel in Heaven looking over you and your beautiful family 🙏❤️

I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Al. He hired me as both a teacher and coach . His insight about education helped me both in the classroom and as coach on the football field and on the court.   He was a great inspiration  to me and a great man.   And I will always remember his red sweater!  Rest In Peace Al.

Al was a great man, will be deeply missed by many and who's greatest attribute was his heart of gold. He touched so many people through his outstanding career in education, be it Swansea or Somerset his priority was always kids first. Having worked alongside him for many years I will cherish the stories and memories. My most sincere condolences to his entire family. 


"Big Al" was a great guy with a heart of gold. 
When he retired, the tribute in his honor at the Somerset Lodge was dubbed "Fun with Al." He was a real character, and many of his stories, and stories told about him, are legendary.
But no question he was 100% genuine.
It was always quite clear that he loved and adored his family, and that was reciprocated.
After he retired, I would join him for a coffee and an update at halftime at his house when the Thanksgiving rivalry games were played in Swansea. The electricity for the Case scoreboard ran from his house at the time, and he used to joke that he'd pull the plug if Somerset were losing at halftime. 
Just like "the earth shook" when he and his Durfee football teammates took to Alumni Field back in the day, the universe must have shook when he passed through the pearly gates of Heaven.
RIP, Mr. Estes. 

May you rest in peace.  Always a smile. Thanks for the many years of enjoyment we got Al from the pool we  bought from you.

When someone takes the time to deposit or share something of worth to others, that tends to leave a lasting memory. For me Al was more than my coach in the Swansea Little League. I'll never ever forget the practices, games, tournaments, and especially the gatherings at the Huck's or at other places where teammates and families spent time together.  I will also never forget Al's smile which you never seemed to go away. And while we will miss him here on this campsite called earth, let's not forget, he is in our eternal home where we will be soon enough. Be jealous that he is experiencing it before us! Put me in coach!

As one of my Footbal coaches  and  as My PE teacher  he was  totally dedicated to his  students...He regaled  us all with stories  of his athletic  endeavors which  were  always  filled   with great embellishments....turns out   most  were  true...he taught us  and  kept us entertained !  As an adult I only  ran  into him occasionally...but he always had a  kind  word  and  and  a fond  remembrance,  for  me...I only wish  we could  have  brought  him to our  50th reunion...would  have been  a blast. !   I am sure he  telling a story  up there  !  RIP  Coach Estes !

I worked with Al at Namco years ago, he was a great man! I will miss running into him at Walmart and him giving me a huge hug and kiss! My condolences to his family. Rest in peace Al 

Al was an amazing guy. He was so hard working with everything he did. He was my teacher, my coach, my AD when I coached, but above all my friend. He would do anything for anyone. Al didn’t have a bad bone in his body. Al would go out of his way to provide the Somerset athletes with the best of everything concerning their safety. Al was always in touch with what was happening in his school. I loved his stories, his memories, and running into him at local stores. He would always go out of his way to chat with me. Al played an important role in my life. I know he’s holding court right now with his former friends that have passed. Al, until we meet again I wish you peace and God’s speed.
