Fred was born on September 27, 1927 to Manuel J. Medeiros and Loretta (Ledeoux) Medeiros in a home in Westport, Massachusetts. He loved to point out the spot where the house once stood whenever he would pass by. Fred had one brother and two sisters: Norman Medeiros, (d. 1992), Helena (Eleanor) D. (Medeiros) Eckard (d. 1999) and Ethel (Medeiros) Mansi.
After graduating high school, Fred joined the family business, Medeiros Farm Equipment, Co. in Swansea, MA. Alongside his brother Norman, he owned and ran the business until its close in 1989. Fred conducted himself in business as he did in life-- with fairness and a desire to always do the right thing. After the close of the business, Fred worked for Baker Tractor in Swansea, MA. He was happy to stay active in the farming community and truly enjoyed his time there.
On July 17, 1948 Fred was married to Jeanne A. (Caron) Medeiros, (d. 1996) at St. Patrick’s Church in Somerset, MA. Their wedding reception was one of the first at the Somerset Lodge in Somerset, MA, which was one of Fred’s fondest memories—he spoke of it right up until his passing. Fred and Jeanne went on to have three children: Patricia J. (Medeiros) Caouette, David P. Medeiros and Cynthia L. (Medeiros) LeBreux, (d. 2003). Jeanne passed away April 20, 1996, and few days have passed since that Fred has not spoken of her. Their daughter Cynthia passed on September 25 2003, and she was also always in his heart and mind.
Fred is survived by a loving family. His sister Ethel and her husband Skip. His son, David and his wife Sandra (Martin) Medeiros, his daughter, Patricia and her husband Oscar Caouette. His grandchildren-- Lynn (Medeiros) Tamulis and her husband Nathan Tamulis, Amanda (Caouette) LeMarier and her husband Eric LeMarier, Nicholas Mello and his partner Debra Rebello, Kevin Medeiros and his partner Diana Moniz, Timothy Caouette and his wife Laura Albano, Kenneth Medeiros and his wife Stacey (Lavimoniere) Medeiros. His great-grandchildren-- Amanda, Nicholas, Zachary, Violet, Madeline and Henry. Fred would always tell you that he “thanks God every day for his family.” His family is so incredibly grateful for all that he was, for all the time they were blessed to have with him, and for all the wonderful memories he has left. He will be missed so very much.
