Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Hector and Regina (Pontbriand) Letourneau, she had been a longtime resident of Swansea.
Mrs. Bessette was a Sewing Machine Operator at the Samesta Dress Manufacturing Company for over fifty years before retiring and was a member of the United Union Local 178 and the “Rhody Merry Makers”. A longtime member of many local square dance clubs, she enjoyed ball room and line dancing.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Clifton Rehab. “Memere” loved the care that she received while there.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Suzanne P. Holden and her husband Joseph of Swansea, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Arthur J. Bessette, Jr. and sister of the late Gracia Martel, Viola Giannetti, Ernest, Antoine, Armand, Lionel, and Paul Letourneau.
Her Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00PM in Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Funeral services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions in her honor may be made to the Saint Vincent Home, 2425 Highland Ave., Fall River, MA 02720, please include in loving memory of Aurore Bessette in the memo.
