Amy H. Breed

Born in Washington, D.C., Amy was the daughter of the late Patricia (Riley) Colenback and Richard Breed II. A graduate of Cambridge High & Latin School, she went on to build a long and dedicated career as a paralegal, a profession she proudly pursued for more than 35 years.

If you knew Amy, you knew that family was everything to her. Nothing brought her greater joy than being a mother. Her daughters, Jessica and Erin, were her pride and joy, and she was happiest when they were close by. Amy was immensely proud of the women they became and especially cherished seeing them find love and happiness of their own.

Amy found joy in the simple things in life. She loved going to the beach—even if she could have done without the sand. She could spend hours there reading a good book, soaking up the sunshine, or simply enjoying the company of family and friends. She looked forward to her weekly barre classes and treasured the friendships she made there. She also loved going for walks and worked hard throughout her diagnosis to remain active and maintain her physical fitness.

Amy will always be remembered for her one-of-a-kind personality and the way she made people feel. She had a gift for making everyone feel loved, welcomed, and at home. You could always count on Amy for a big hug, a warm smile, a good laugh, and genuine excitement whenever she saw you. She loved a good conversation and never hesitated to tell the people she loved exactly how much they meant to her.

Her warmth and generosity extended far beyond her immediate family. Amy was a second mom to many, and the number of people who trusted her as a confidante is a true testament to the kind of person she was. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen, heard, and cared for—and she left an imprint on countless lives.

Amy is survived by her daughters, Jessica B. Reddy of Fall River, MA, and Erin E. Raposa and her husband, Dylan, of Westport, MA; her brothers, John Colenback and Dani of Bennington, VT, and Jared Colenback and his wife, Meg, of Easthampton, MA; her sister, Margaret Wilson and her husband, Justin, of Nashville, TN; and several nieces and nephews, Samuel, Scott, Gabriel, Veronica, Robert, Meigs, and Davis.

Her visitation will be held on Friday, August 28th from 3-6pm at Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea, MA 02777, followed by a memorial service at 6pm. Relatives and friends are invited to stay.

In keeping with Amy’s bright and colorful spirit, her family invites those attending to wear something bright and cheerful in her honor if they so choose. Amy loved color, and teal was her favorite.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Amy’s memory to the Appendix Cancer Research Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Contributions will help support continued research and bring hope to others facing this rare disease.
