

Anthony “Tony” Venafra, age 82, of Somerset, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at home. He was the loving husband of Marion (Denovellis) Venafra with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.
Born in Paternopoli, Italy, the son of the late Joseph A. and Giovanina (Santoro) Venafra, he came to the United States at the age of 15 and had resided in Somerset for the past 52 years. He served in the National Guard for 4 years.
A tailor by trade, Mr. Venafra was the co-owner of Domani Clothing and worked for Santoro Mfg., Anderson Little Clothing Mfg. and Corbin Mfg., retiring as a supervisor.
Tony enjoyed gardening, playing Bocce and the company of his loving family.
Tony’s family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice, especially Wendy and Debbie for their care and compassion.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Joseph A. Venafra of Somerset and Paul G. Venafra and his wife Kerrin of Fall River; several nieces, nephews, cousins and his grand dogs. He was the brother of the late Elena Colucciello.
His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 9 am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 am in St. Patrick’s Church, 306 South St., Somerset. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 pm. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery.
