

Antonio M. Batista, passed away suddenly at home on August 23, 2015. He was born December 15, 1972 in Sao Miguel, Acores and came to the states when he was eight, with his family. He graduated from B.C.C. with a degree in Culinary Arts and spent some time as a chef in Hawaii and in MA. He had several other jobs in his lifetime, but spent the last 15 years at Old Dominion Freight Line. He started on the dock, became a driver, a salesman and then went on to run the Portland Maine terminal, where he was for the past six years.
Tony gave 110% all the time. If you knew him you loved him. He had a giant heart and would give all that he had to everyone. He took special interest in all of his employees and their families, and always shared his successes with them. He truly cared about them and valued their hard work. He was the most loving husband and friend and everyone knew that they could count on him to help no matter what the situation. He always had a smile, a hug, a laugh or a joke for everyone and took center stage wherever he was. He loved to sing and play the guitar. Tony loved the Bruins. He loved life and was very proud of his Portuguese heritage.
Tony is survived by his wife Julie LaFerriere, his step daughter Jordan Warren, his mother Maria Batista, brother Joao Batista, brother Joe Batista and his wife Paula, sister Rosa Costa and her husband Jimmy, sister Natalia Pacheco and her husband John, sister Octavia Jacome and her husband Fernando, and sister Maria Batista and her companion Jerry Dreiss. His father and mother in law Joel and Sandy LaFerriere, brother and sister in law Glenn and Denise LaFerriere, sister and brother in law Joyce and Ryan Nalette, nephews and nieces Lenny, Thomas, Sylvia, John, Andrew, Allison, Zachary, Victoria, Emilia, Alex, Paige, Allison, Josh, Sydney and Abby. He is also survived by his very special dog Boston, Cookie, Mr. Fur and Kitty. He was the son of the late Jose Batista who passed away on August 25, 2015.
Tony and his father Jose’s funeral will be held together on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 8:00AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest, 189 Gardner’s Neck Rd., Swansea, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00AM in St. Dominc’s Church, 1277 G.A.R. Highway. Visiting hours Friday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Burial in Vinnicum Woods Cemetery, Swansea.
