

Antonio DaSilva, age 89, of Swansea passed away Friday, April 15, 2016 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Maria C. (Medeiros) DaSilva to whom he has been married for over sixty years.
Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, a son of the late Manuel and Natalia (Moniz-DaPonte) DaSilva, he immigrated to Fall River in 1967 and lived in Tiverton before moving to Swansea in 2008.
Mr. DaSilva was a veteran of the Portuguese Army and worked in the Construction Industry for many years. He was a member of the Laborer’s National Union of North America local 271 and the Liberal Club. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed farming, gardening and playing dominoes.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons: John Silva and his wife Natalie of Westport, Anthony Silva and wife Jeannie of Swansea, Joseph F. Silva of Smithfield and Samuel Silva of Westport, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Marcelo DaSilva, Manuel DaSilva, John Silva and Margaret Medeiros.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 10:00AM at Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00AM in St. Dominic’s Church, 1277 G.A.R. Highway, Swansea. Visitation Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00PM. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
