

Armand Farias, age 93, of Swansea, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Fall River. He was the loving husband of Cecelia Dolores (Carvalho) Farias, with whom he shared seventy years of marriage.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Manuel and Alda (Pasos) Farias, he was a longtime resident of Swansea.
A graduate of Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School, class of 1950, he was a member of the school’s basketball team that won the state championship that year and was also a member of the school’s Hall of Fame. Armand was a skilled machinist and manufacturing engineer, working at several manufacturing companies in the area for many years before retiring. An active member of the community, Mr. Farias coached Swansea Little League for twenty-two years, he served as an auxiliary police officer and was a chairman for the towns democratic committee and the Parks Department. An avid bowler, Armand also enjoyed golfing and was well known as the go-to golf cart repairman in the area.
In addition to his beloved wife Cecelia, he is survived by four children, Armand Farias, Jr. and his wife Rima of Thompson, CT, Michael Farias and his wife Beth of Gardner, MA, Nancy Morgado and her husband David of Swansea and Cindy Rush and her husband Brian of Fall River; his sister, Dolores David; four grandchildren, Stacy Wood and her husband Duncan, Lindsey Mancuso and her husband John, Stephanie Chalfant and her husband Austin and Myles Rush; four great-grandchildren, Liam Wood, Malcolm Wood, Dustyn Chalfant and Lillian Chalfant; bonus grandchildren, Jake Leblanc, Olivia Rosado, Gabriella Hidalgo, Kara, Patrick, Kelly and Daniel Crimmins, Heather, Brianna, James Pormeranz and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Bernadette Monte.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd. Swansea. Funeral and burial will be private.
