

Born in Fall River, a son of the late Arthur and Alice (Cox) Marois, he lived in Fall River and Swansea before moving to North Providence twenty years ago.
A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, he was a Veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II as a Radarman First Class aboard the U.S.S. Darby.
A member of the Masonic Lodge and the Over the Hill Gang, he was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by two daughters, Frances Kelley and her husband Michael of Swansea, Patricia Janelle and her husband Gary of St. Matthew, SC; one son, Arthur E. Marois Jr. and his wife Patricia of Marston Mills, MA; longtime companion, Lena Gates of North Providence and her children Pauline Ashworth of Cherryhill, NJ and Maureen Quinlan of Ocala, FL and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Lois A. Thompson, grandfather of the late Bryan Kelley and brother of the late Dorothy Gouveia, Lucy Borden and Edmund Marois.
His Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 10:15 to 11:15AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea with a prayer service in the Funeral Home from 11:15 to 11:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00PM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Relatives and friends invited. Contributions in his honor may be made to the Fisher House of Boston, P.O. Box 230, S. Walpole, MA 02071. Burial private.
