Cecil “Roy” Heaton, age 81, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at his home comforted by his family. He was the devoted husband of the late Ann B. (Thayer) Heaton to whom he was married for 51 years before her passing in 2013.
Born in Pensacola, FL, a son of the late Cecil and Louise (Byrd) Heaton, he was raised in the Mobile, Alabama area, and he was a longtime resident of Swansea.
A graduate of Vigor High School in Mobile, he earned an Associate’s degree in Business from Fisher College. A veteran of the United States Army, he served during the Vietnam Era. As a Maintenance Supervisor, he worked for many years at Providence Gas Company and then at Harvard Pilgrim before his retirement.
Roy loved cooking, playing golf, traveling with Ann, and was an enthusiastic fan of University of Alabama football. His greatest joy was being the best “Pa” and spending time with his two granddaughters.
He is survived by one daughter, Cheryl A. Frazier and her husband David; one son, Robert C. Heaton; two brothers, Stuart Heaton and his wife Wendy, and Kenny Heaton and his wife Brenda; one sister, Bonnie Platt; two beloved granddaughters, Casey Frazier and Juliana Heaton; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Linda Driskell and Kathy Downey.
His Funeral Service will be Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd. in Swansea, followed by his burial in Thomas Cemetery in Swansea.
