

Born in Alexandria, VA Debbie was the daughter of the late Buford G. and Olive (Smith) Morris. She was a 1968 graduate of Shenandoah Valley Academy and attended Johnson and Wales University.
Debbie worked for Rhode Island Housing as well as Woman’s Development Corporation before retiring in 2024. She also volunteered for many years at The Citizens Scholarship foundation of Fall River, Fall River Animal Wellness and Adoption Center, and various cat agencies.
She enjoyed playing poker with the Donkey Dodgers, spending time at the Tri City Elk Lodge #14, planning poker fundraisers, animals especially cats, and traveling. She was a Patriots fan and enjoyed gathering for games, playing cards, and playing a good video game. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Debbie was the owner of Diamond Jack’s Dance Hall and Saloon, where she took pleasure in teaching people how to dance and cherished all of the friendships and bonds she made there. She was also a member of the UCWDC Hall of Fame for her contributions to Country and Western Dancing.
Surviving in addition to her husband, she leaves a daughter Amy Paulhus, her siblings: Dr. Joe Ann Newman-Gibbs (husband Tom), Sherry Ramsey (husband Gerald), Lucy Hall, John Newman (wife Becky), Jamie Newman, and her best friend Wanda Pedersen (husband Glenn). Debbie leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She cherished all of her friends, making many of them her family.
