Dennis T. Ferreira Sr.

Dennis T. Ferreira Sr., age 78, of Swansea, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 in Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of Maria M. (DeSousa) Ferreira to whom he has been married to for the past 55 years.

Born in St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Manuel T. and Rose (Ledo) Ferreira, he had been a resident of Swansea for over 49 years.

He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Barletta Construction for many years before retiring. He enjoyed working hard, fishing, gardening, and most of all spending time with his family. While his children were growing up he loved to travel with them and was an avid New England Sportsfan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children; Dennis T. Ferreira Jr. and his wife Yvonne of Holliston, MA, Michael W. Ferreira and his wife Lori of Swansea, Donna M. Nadeau of Taunton, and Mark Ferreira and his wife Flo of Swansea, one brother; John Ferreira and his wife Helen of Central Valley, NY, two sisters; Agnes Perreira of Swansea, and Josephine DiCorpo and her husband Ted of FL, eight grandchildren; Ashley Nadeau Francis and her husband T.J., Taylor Ferreira, Mark Nadeau II, Laken Ferreira, Sean Nadeau, Kendra Burton, Amy Ferreira and Mya Ferreira, and many nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Manuel Ferreira Jr., Edward Ferreira, and Mary Feijo.

His Funeral Mass will be held Friday, August 3, 2012 at 9:00AM in St. Dominic’s Church 1277 G.A.R. Highway in Swansea. Relatives and friends invited. In lieu of flowers contributions in his honor may be made to the American Heart Association 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements are in the care of the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest. Burial private.
