Born in Canada, a daughter of the late Richard J. and Iva Mae (Lancing) Dunbar, she came to the United States at age 12 and graduated from Woodbury High School in Connecticut. She worked in retail for several years with her mother who owned and operated Iva Mae’s Yarn Shop in Connecticut. Outgoing and spontaneous, she made friends wherever she went as she and her husband traveled around the country finally moving to Swansea from California in 2009. “DiDi” was an avid craftsperson and knitter.
Surviving in addition to her husband: 1 daughter: Jennifer Valcourt of Swansea, 1 son: Michael Baum of Amherst, NH, sister Linda Giovannini of Thomaston, CT, brother: William Dunbar of Watertown, CT, 5 grandchildren: Mackenzie and Alex Valcourt, Gunnar, Hunter and Taylor Baum and several nieces and nephews.
