Born in Ocean Grove, MA, Doris was the daughter of the late Leo and Laura (Levesque) Durand.
In addition to being a loving mother, homemaker, and volunteer, Doris worked as a Kitchen Manager for the Meals on Wheels program at the Swansea Council on Aging. Among her many attributes, she especially loved taking care of others. She was an outstanding full-time babysitter to eight little ones throughout her life, primarily her precious grandchildren. Doris also selflessly, in her home, cared for three elderly aunts as well as her ailing mother through their last years of life.
Doris really enjoyed “going down the river” just to sit in the car at the town’s boat ramp and watch the boats come and go. In her younger years, Doris was an active member in Tom Daley’s Four Hands Round Square Dance Club at St. Andrew’s Hall in Ocean Grove.
In 2016, at the age of eighty-five, Doris was especially proud of taking on the role of “Flower Girl” in her granddaughter’s wedding where she instantly melted everyone’s heart.
She is survived by five children, Steven Silva and his wife Janet of Swansea; Debra Digiammo and her husband Nicholas of Rehoboth; Sheila Neu and her husband Larry of Rehoboth, George Silva and his wife Sandy of Swansea and Susan Harris and her husband Michael of Ridgefield, CT; ten grandchildren, Kristen Silva, Marc Silva, Kelly Digiammo, Nicholas Digiammo, Douglas Laflamme, Elise West, Joel Silva, Paige Silva, Marina Harris and Alaina Harris as well as eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren!
In addition to her husband, Doris is pre-deceased by her brother Richard Marsland, and sisters Dorothy Levesque and Irene Faria.
Her funeral services will be private.
