

Edward I. Pettine, age 93, of Swansea, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020. He was the loving husband of the late Constance R. (Blanchette) Pettine, with whom he celebrated 53 years of marriage. They first met in the second grade and he was her paperboy when he worked for the Fall River Herald News.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late John E. and Ruth (Robinson) Pettine, he was a lifelong resident of the area and also lived in Vero Beach, Florida.
Ted was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Class of 1945. He joined the Navy following graduation and served his country proudly. After World War II, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Bryant College. He was the owner of Edward I. Pettine Inc., an accounting firm in Fall River for many years before retiring. He served as President of the Mass. Society of Certified Public Accountants. He was a member of the AICPA Council and Joint Trial Board. He served as Treasurer to the Bristol Community College Foundation. He was on the inaugural committee to build Bishop Connolly High School. An avid golf player, Ted was a member of the Fall River Country Club and Meadowbrook Country Club in Vero Beach, Florida. He was an active member of the YMCA, the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Sons of Italy. He was a past member of the Cedar Cove Club, Cedar Lane Pool Club, Quequechan Club and Meadowridge Tennis and Pool Club. He loved drinking Sambuca and his family encourages you to raise a glass in his honor.
Survivors include: three sons, Edward T. “Ted” Pettine and his wife Karen of Swansea, Thomas Pettine and his partner Deborah Rodrigues of Somerset and Michael Pettine of Swansea; two daughters, Linda Pettine of Swansea and Ann Marie Pettine and her companion Earle “Bud” Bryer of New Bedford; eleven grandchildren, Laura Kilmer and her husband Brett, Jason Pettine and his wife Yasmina, Matthew Pettine and his wife Tara, Kevin Pettine and his wife Brittany, Allison Calise and her husband Kyle, Nicole Mineau and her husband Michael, Brian Roussell, Mitchell Diamond, Colin Diamond, Michael Ray Pettine and Sarah Pettine; eight great-grandchildren and one more on the way; one sister, Phyllis Mauretti and her husband Arthur and several nieces and nephews. His companion Jaynet Simcock of Vero Beach, Florida also survives him. He was the brother of the late John Pettine and his wife the late Elsie Pettine. He was the father-in-law of the late Maryellen T. Pettine.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 11:00 AM in St. Thomas More Church, 386 Luther Ave., Somerset. Friends and relatives are invited. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to, My Brother’s Keeper, PO Box 70273, North Dartmouth, MA 02747. Arrangements are in the care of Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, Swansea.
