

Eric L. Vieira, age 43, of Swansea passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved companion of Michelle Vega, with whom he shared eight wonderful years of love and companionship.
Born and raised in New Bedford, he was the cherished son of Carlos and Debra (Furtado) Vieira of Swansea. In 2020, he made Swansea his home, where he built a life filled with friendship, laughter, and treasured memories.
Eric was a proud graduate of New Bedford High School, Class of 2001, and later earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Textile Science from UMass Dartmouth in 2006. Dedicated and hardworking, he spent the past six years as a finance manager for Bristol Toyota in Swansea until his illness.
A man of many interests and talents, Eric was a member of several gun clubs and proudly played the trumpet for the Our Lady of the Angels band for many years. He found joy in playing soccer, mountain biking, hiking and camping in New Hampshire and caring for his vegetable garden. Most of all, he treasured the time he spent with his family and friends, whose love and companionship meant the world to him.
Along with Michelle, Carlos and Debra, he is survived by his son, Ethan Vieira of Swansea, his step-children: Isabella and Jorge Vega, both of Swansea, his sister, Krystal Andrade and her husband Timothy of Somerset, his brother Sean Vieira and his wife Chhenghour of Swansea, his niece Madelynn Andrade, his nephew Jaxson Andrade and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
His funeral will be held Friday, May 22, 2026, at 10:15 AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. John of God Church, Brayton Ave, Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held Friday, from 8:15 AM to 10:15 AM, prior to Mass. Burial will be in Vinnicum Woods Cemetery, Swansea.
